All Competitors Hit Contracted Marks
For the first time in a few weeks, there were no major scales before a Dana White’s Contender Series event.
All 10 athletes who are expected to compete in week 8 of the last season put on weight on Monday. The Contender Series airs Tuesday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and airs on ESPN + at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. The typical card match is a deep-weight clash between Solomon Renfro (170 lbs) vs. Jonny Parsons (171). Parsons initially checked in at 171.5 pounds, but was able to successfully reach the contracted welterweight limit moments later.
Stuck in the Tiger Schulmann team, Renfro has won eight of nine professional outings, with his only defeat coming from recent Contender Series contract winner Mike Malott. “The Black Dragon” comes from the victories of the first round KO / TKO under the banner of Cage Fury Fighting Championships.
The Syndicate MMA-trained Parsons missed three of their first five seasons, but enters the contender for a four-game winning streak that includes a trio of knockout wins. Most recently, “The Paradox” recorded a header by Ricardo Chavez at iKon Fighting Federation 7 on June 11.
Weighing results of the candidate series:
Solomon Renfro (170) vs. Jonny Parsons (171)
