A fight between two ranked strawweights is coming straight for you on May 8 when Amanda Ribas (# 10) takes on Angela Hill (# 12).
As MMA Fighting initially reported, Ribas and Hill will face off in a fight that should bring fireworks. Both Ribas and Hill have an aggressive style, and they have proven to be versatile and athletic fighters who always aim to deliver. This card will be headlined by former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw who will return after a two-year suspension from USADA to face Cory Sandhagen.
Amanda Ribas was one of the hottest competitors in the strawweight division heading into her UFC 257 fight against Marina Rodriguez. Ribas was living up to his hype in the first round before being TKOed by Rodriguez in round 2 in what was the second-biggest upset on the card. The agony of defeat is something Ribas has rarely experienced and hopes not to relive anytime soon. Instead, he will try to set up a new winning streak starting May 8 when he meets Angela “Overkill” Hill.
Angela Hill is a seven-year veteran of the sport who is always looking to stay active in terms of signing contracts as well as action within the octagon after signing. After completing four fights in 2020, Hill bounced back in 2021, starting his year with a W over Ashley Yoder last month at the UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs. Muhammad card. Hill will aim to be two in a row and possibly break into the top 10 of the strawweight division by defeating Ribas in May.
With the addition of this strawweight contest, the updated lineup for the May 8 card is as follows:
TJ Dillashaw vs. Cory Sandhagen
Donald Cerrone vs. Diego Sánchez
Amanda Ribas vs. Angela Hill
Philipe Lins vs. Ben Rothwell
Maurice Greene vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima
Ryan Benoit vs. Zarrukh Adashev
Damir Hadzovic vs. Nikolas Motta
Christian Aguilera vs. Carlston Harris
Francisco Figueredo vs. Jimmy Flick
Roxanne Modafferi vs. Taila Santos
Tafon Nchukwi vs. Jun Yong Park
Who takes this? Amanda Ribas or Angela Hill?
