[ARCHIVES] Miesha Tate Takes Exception To SI’s Ronda Rousey Title – MMA Root

Tonight, Misha Tate will face Ketlen Vieira in the main event of UFC Vegas 43. However, it’s no secret who was her biggest rival in her career. Here is a 2015 article in which Tate objected to Sports Illustrated and named Rhonda Rousey the most influential female athlete in the world. The following article is presented to you in its original, unaltered form. And it’s delivered to you straight from the MMA News Archives.

UFC women’s bantamweight contender and longtime rival Rhonda Rosie Misha Tate objected to Sports Illustrated, calling Rosie “the most dominant female athlete in the sport.”

“Cupcake” Tate was quick to point out the fact that Rosie only won the bronze medal in judo at the 2008 Olympics, so in her opinion there are at least two athletes who are more “dominant” than Rosie alone.

“I don’t know if that is true,” Tate said of Sports Illustrated, naming Rosie the most dominant female athlete in the sport. “I think there are a lot of athletes in the world. Maybe someone who won a gold medal at the Olympics could be considered more “dominant”, you know? “

Tate continued, “It’s hard to compare across sports because we have a fighting sport versus someone who might be swimming or something like that,” Tate said. “An athlete is still an athlete, so it is difficult to compare apples and oranges, because they are different things, so I don’t know if I completely agree with that.”

Misha Tate returns to the Octagon to take on Jessica Eye in the UFC On FOX 16 co-main event on Saturday July 25, 2015 at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
