Here’s the story earlier this year, when headliner of today’s UFC Vegas 41 event Marvin Vettori beat Jake Paul and the MMA media for showering him with attention. The following story is presented in its original unaltered form.

UFC headliner on ABC 2, Marvin Vettori, has withstood everything he could get out of Jake Paul’s crush.
Like it or not, Jake Paul is one of the biggest names in combat sports. After getting a lot of subscribers to YouTube, it was only natural that the 24-year-old would receive some attention as he entered the boxing world as a crossover star of sorts.
However, the attention he received from the media and fans surpassed all expectations. This has been the case with Paul’s every fight up to this point, but the coverage leading up to his April 17 boxing match against Ben Askren has taken to a whole new level. It could even be said that in some media circles, the build-up was like a full-blown superfight.
Naturally, some people will object to all the attention Paul gets, including the purists of the sport and some of the fighters. Marvin Vettori is one of these people, and he believes that fighters like him are not respected because of the attention Paul receives, which, in his opinion, is unjustified and unfair.
“It’s bad, it’s disrespectful,” Vettori said of Jake Pohl in an interview with MMA Fighting. “Most disrespectful is also this shitty media that I’ve seen all over the place where they give it its due. With the media, this is a compromise, but in the end, the best side of every media is information. This is lost. All in all, it is lost far away. It could have been anything. It could be news, it could be MMA. It could have been anything. It is sad to see this.
“They just look for any clickbait to add news, and the content is shit and it gets worse. It is sad.”
Vettori sees no reason why Paul should be credited with anything. Some people feel that his business sense and ability to maintain and nurture fan interest in his fights is commendable. For Vettori, he just sees it all as one big slap in the face.
“Seeing people just jumping around on some kind of YouTube is just sad,” Vettori said. “There are people who gave their whole lives to this game, and this guy fucked with other young children until he became a little famous. Then to try and fight others [YouTubers], whatever it is, not the fighters and fees and choices. Even just making more money is disrespectful. “
Marvin Vettori is ready to fight Jake Paul for free
Marvin Vettori would love to fight Paul himself, but that’s not what you think. He doesn’t want to fall into the trap of all the Jake Paul hype, even if it comes with a massive salary. No, he wants to sink Paul like the Titanic, but without all the print documenting it.
“Just tell him someone follow him and I want to surprise you,” Vettori began in his ideal script. “I want to show you something. Just bring him to Huntington. As soon as he walks through that door, we just lock the door. Trust me, we wouldn’t be doing anything unfair. Not that we jumped on him or anything like that.” but it looks like you want to survive the fight? Good. Get in the cage and I’ll be happy to greet him.
“I’m all about it,” Vettori said. “As I said, I mostly do it for free. I could.”
In some form of irony, there’s no question that Vettori is contributing to the same headlines he hates by addressing Paul in such a veiled manner. There is no doubt that these flammable comments will be published in many publications, which will draw even more attention to Paul. Perhaps Vettori agrees, if his comments work for what he sees as a great boon: either minimizing Paul’s “disrespectful” coverage in the long run, or enticing the YouTuber to appear in Huntington Beach, California, where a locked gym and fists with tape will be waiting for his arrival.
Do you agree with Marvin Vettori’s view of Jake Paul and all the attention he gets?
