UFC bantamweight contender Aspen Ladd will return this summer.
MMA Fighting has confirmed to sources with knowledge of the £ 135 match that Ladd (9-1) will face Macy Chiasson (7-1) at a UFC event on July 24 following an initial report from ESPN.
This will be Ladd’s first fight since December 2019.
Ladd defeated Yana Kunitskaya by TKO in the third round in her last fight, but was suspended in 2020 after missing a couple of high-profile fights. Last March, Ladd saw opponent Julianne Pena abandon a scheduled fight due to injury. Three months later, Ladd was scheduled to fight former UFC bantamweight title contender Sarah McMann, but a knee injury forced Ladd to withdraw from the fight and any possible matches for the rest of the year.
Ladd recently told MMA fighters that she was hoping to rebook a fight with Pena, rather than see UFC matchmakers pushing Pena into a title fight against Amanda Nunez.
Chiasson bounced back after her first professional defeat to Lina Lansberg with consecutive decision wins over Marion Reno and Shanna Young. Best Fighter 28 The featherweight champion has improved her UFC record to 5-1 after beating Renault in March.
The July 24 UFC event has yet to be officially announced as a promotion.
