Aspen Ladd’s fight against Macy Chiasson has been re-booked for October 2.
ESPN broke the news on Wednesday of the reservation change for this fight that was originally scheduled for UFC Vegas 32 before being canceled due to a stress fracture to the foot suffered by Chiasson.
Currently ranked No. 3 in the women’s bantamweight division, Aspen Ladd will provide a great opportunity for Chiasson, at No. 10, to insert herself deep into the top 5 of the bantamweight division. Ladd has not competed since December 2019 when he defeated Yana Kunitskaya by TKO. Ladd currently has a 9-1 professional record, with his only loss coming to a former UFC champion in Germaine de Randamie.
Ladd’s first choice as a return opponent was Julianna Peña in a title eliminator fight, and the original fight with Macy Chiasson was canceled, she called for a fight against Miesha Tate. But now, he’s back where he started: in the twentysomething battle against Chiasson.
Macy Chiasson is another young bantamweight who has shown a lot of promise. Like Aspen Ladd, Chiasson has been hailed as the future of the division by some experts and, like Ladd, has only suffered one career setback. Chiasson is currently on a two-fight winning streak with wins over Shanna Young and most recently Marion Reneau in UFC on ESPN: Brunson vs. Holland.
There is currently no venue or main event announced for this Fight Night card on October 2.
Who is your choice to win this fight? Aspen Ladd or Macy Chiasson?
