Just days before her next appearance on Bellator MMA, Cat Zingano launched a $ 10,000 scholarship fund with Bold.org
Officially named the “Zingano Cat Loss Scholarship”, the award will be given to a student who is struggling to lose a close family member, legal guardian or loved one, and needs financial support to educate them as they progress. “
Zigano’s mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer when the fighter was in her early 20s and Zingano struggled to focus on her education due to her mother’s declining health and eventual death in 2005. Zingano also lost her husband committed suicide in 2014, which was another difficult time for both her and her son. The scholarship is designed to help those who have experienced similar tragedy in their lives.
“The impact of losing my loved ones changed my life,” Zingano said in a statement. “I am so grateful for the support and resources that many have given me over the years. The struggle with loss is never easy and never disappears.
“This scholarship is aimed at students who have lost a loved one and continue to go to their education. I know I need help from time to time, so now I pay for someone who has lost and needs help, just like me. “
Zingano will return to action in Bellator 256 when he faces Olivia Parker at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Friday night. Former UFC bantamweight champion debuts successfully in California-based promotion with a three-phase decision for Gabrielle Holloway at Bellator 245 last September
