Zingano also lost her husband committed suicide in 2014, which was another difficult time for both her and her son. The scholarship is designed to help those who have experienced similar tragedy in their lives.

“The impact of losing my loved ones changed my life,” Zingano said in a statement. “I am so grateful for the support and resources that many have given me over the years. The struggle with loss is never easy and never disappears.

“This scholarship is aimed at students who have lost a loved one and continue to go to their education. I know I need help from time to time, so now I pay for someone who has lost and needs help, just like me. “
