Bellator’s roster has become 18 fighters lighter.
Advertising agencies confirmed to MMA Fighting on Saturday that they have parted ways with several athletes, although specific details have not been released. MMA Junkie was the first to report the move.
Among the fighters who have turned the page are former world champions Daniel Strauss and Liam McGuery. Ostrich has not competed since losing to Derek Campos in September 2019 and discovered earlier this year that he was in trouble with the law when he was arrested and charged with one felony: aggravated beating with a lethal weapon after allegedly beating and stabbed him-again, again-again partner.
More than two years have passed since McGeary approached the Bellator cage and was forced to knock due to a jaw injury sustained in his fight with Phil Davis on the Bellator 220.
Former UFC fighter Beck Rawlings will also turn the page of his Bellator chapter after winning a 1-1 win in the promotion. According to the source, Rawlings has been in talks to return to BKFC, but these are not yet finalized.
Other notable names on the list include former WBO boxing featherweight champion Heather Hardy, Taiwan Claxton and Tyri Fortune.
