Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo 3 official for UFC 270 in January
The trilogy of a flyweight title fight between Brandon Moreno and Daveson Figueiredo has become official for the upcoming January 22 UFC 270 pay-per-view event.
UFC officials announced this on Wednesday.
Moreno and Figueiredo were originally expected to face off at UFC 269 in December, but instead the promotion decided to postpone the title fight until January. Now Moreno and Figueiredo are expected to share space on the same map as the anticipated heavyweight unification fight between Francis Ngannou and Cyril Gein.
The third fight between Moreno and Figueiredo will take place just over a year after their initial meeting in December 2020. The lightweights fought for the majority that night, and were rebooked to UFC 263 six months later.
In the rematch, Moreno dominated the fight and then finished with Figueiredo by rear naked choke in the third round to become the flyweight champion.
Now Moreno will defend his title for the first time, and Figueiredo will try to become a two-time champion in the division.
While the venue for UFC 270 has yet to be announced, several sources in MMA Fighting have indicated that Anaheim, California is currently the leader in hosting the tournament, but nothing has been recorded yet.
