He was introduced to the cinema industry by his father and acted in many films as a child actor. Lee moved to the United States at the age of 18 to pursue his higher education at the University of Washington in Seattle, during which time he began teaching martial arts. His Hong Kong and Hollywood productions raised the traditional martial arts film to a new level of popularity and acclaim and sparked a surge in interest in the Chinese nation and Chinese martial arts in the West in the 1970s. The direction and tone of his films changed dramatically, influencing martial arts and martial arts films around the world. When doctors announced Lee’s death, it was officially ruled an “accidental death.” Since his death, Lee has continued to have a significant influence on modern combat sports, including judo, karate, mixed martial arts, and boxing.
