Casey O’Neill vs. Antonina Shevchenko in the works for UFC event on Oct. 2 – MMA Root

Flyweight Casey O’Neill and Antonina Shevchenko are expected to face off at the upcoming UFC Fight Night card tournament on October 2.

Multiple sources confirmed Thursday’s MMA Fighting match following an initial report from MMA DNA

Undefeated in her first seven pro fights, O’Neill has become a welcome addition to the UFC’s 125-pound division, especially after earning stops in her first two appearances in the Octagon.

O’Neill sent Ultimate Fighter veteran Shana Dobson in his debut match, then introduced Lara Procopio on her last outing back in June.

In October, O’Neill will take another step forward in his career, facing Shevchenko, the older sister of UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.

Since joining the UFC, Shevchenko has experienced many ups and downs, jumping between wins and losses during the first six fights. After an impressive finish against Ariana Lipsky last November, Shevchenko was defeated by submission to Andrea Lee back in May.

She will try to get back on track as she faces the ordeal at O’Neill in October with light heavyweights Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker serving as the main events on the map.
