Ciryl Gane on potential fight with former training partner Francis Ngannou

Ciryl Gane is ready to fight a former training partner and the current UFC heavyweight champion, Francois Ngannou. A fighter who beat another top heavyweight in the last UFC Vegas 30, Alexander Volkov, believes a fight with the “Predator” is inevitable.

After Gane dominated Volkov and won by unanimous decision of the referee in the UFC fight of the night last weekend, voices were raised about a potential “Bon Gamina” match against Ngannou. The champion is set to face Derrick Lewis in the next fight, but the Frenchman has no problem waiting for the title duel, as he announced at a press conference after UFC Vegas 30.

I think I proved that I don’t need another fight before the title fight. Even if the UFC wants to nominate me for the heavyweight championship tomorrow, I’m ready for it.

Gane has had the opportunity to train with Ngannou in the past as they prepare for MMA Factory matches together. The 31-year-old Frenchman briefly touched on training sessions with “Predator”.

This man is really tough. This is not a joke.

I feel comfortable with this statement. In the past this would have been weak as it wouldn’t have been a championship belt fight. Now we would be fighting for the title. I feel comfortable with it because we don’t train in the same place anymore. It would be something beautiful for me, for him, and for my coach at MMA Factory (Fernand Lopez).

For Gane (9-0 MMA), it was the 6th Octagon win for the world’s largest MMA organization. In the past he was victorious against, among others, Junior dos Santos or Jairzinho Rozenstruik. The 31-year-old is an all-rounder and he finishes his fights in different ways – 3 wins by submission, 3 by TKO / KO and 3 by referee decision.

As for the champion, he will face Derrick Lewis in the next fight. It will be a revenge between the two gentlemen. Players like Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic should also be kept in mind as they are also waiting for the opportunity to fight for the UFC Championship. It’s unclear what the organization’s plans are for the Royal Division at this time.
