Combate Global Announces Lightweight Tournament to Crown New Champ on April 23 – MMA Root

Combate Global will host a four-person tournament overnight to host the inaugural North American champion on April 23.

The offer announced the news in circulation on Monday. Anthony Avila will face Alejandro Sanchez in a semifinal match, while Tommy Aaron will face Luis Gomez in the other. In addition, Cristian Perez will lock the horns with Geraldo Rosa Almonte in an alternate tournament period.

If one of the winners of the semi-final cannot compete in the final, the winner of the alternative match will take his place in the round of the championship.

“One night tournaments have become part of Combate DNA, and we could not think of a better way to crown a new lightweight champion than to have the champion win the title by beating two opponents overnight,” said the Combate CEO. Global Campbell McLaren.

The event airs on April 23 at 12:30 ET / PT at Univision and at 12:30 ET / 9: 30 p.m. PT at TUDN USA from Univision Studios in Miami, Florida. Two more bouts were also confirmed for the card: Anali Lopez Hernandez vs. Andrea Soraluz at 119kg and Miguel Lugo vs. Christopher Boasso at featherweight.
