COVID cancels UFC Vegas 24 main card bout – MMA Root

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was forced to make a late change to its UFC Vegas 24 lineup on ESPN after featherweight veteran Ricardo Ramos tested positive for COVID and was pulled from his fight with Bill Algeo on APEX on Saturday. . night (April 17) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

That’s according to MMA Junkie.

Ramos, 25 (14-3), is 5-2 in the Octagon and is looking to bounce back from his TKO loss to Lerone Murphy at UFC on ESPN 13 in July 2020. “Carcacinha” has 10 finishes in 14 wins but remains unclassified at 145 pounds.

“The test came back positive, unfortunately,” Ramos told MMA Fighting. “Thank God I’m fine and that’s what matters. I have no symptoms, but there is nothing we can do. “

With just two days left before fight night, Algeo (14-5) will return to the bench to await his next assignment. It is not yet known if the promotion plans to rebook these two for a later date or simply find them new opponents as Ramos recovers.
