Curtis Blaydes Calls For ‘Logical’ Fight Against Ciryl Gane – MMA Root

Curtis Blaydes is looking for a dance partner in Cyril Gein.

The UFC heavyweight division is really heating up. Champion Francis Ngannou after a big title defense victory over Cyril Gein. He was negotiating a contract with the UFC, and now he will need an operation.

These factors make his immediate future in the division unclear. If, for some reason, the UFC finds that it needs another interim title or champion, it would be nice if other top heavyweights start marking their territory. This may be what Curtis Blades is trying to do.

Blades took to social media in hopes of securing a matchup with former challenger and interim title holder Cyril Gein.

“This should be the next logical matchup for both of us @ufc #makessense #dancepartner #heavyweight #contenders,” Blaydes wrote.

Blades last fought in September. He defeated Jairzinho Rozenstruik via unanimous decision to move up to fourth place in the rankings. The only men ahead of him are Derrick Lewis, Stipe Miocic and Gein.

Blades was recently defeated by Lewis and Miocic seems to be holding on for a title shot. His call to Gein is a great idea, especially when the division is on standby.

If Blades can get a win over Gein, he’ll be in a great position. However, there are a few crooked balls that can expect a split.

If Ngannou sits out and the UFC doesn’t do anything to strip him, then the top five may have to fight each other to see who will be the contender when Ngannou returns. Also, Jon Jones is supposedly making his heavyweight debut soon, but will likely do so just for a title shot.

Either way, the Gein win puts Blades exactly where he needs to be to get a title shot when his number is called. He just needs Gein to agree first.

Do you think Curtis Blaydes can beat Cyril Gein?
