Dagestani Prospect Saygid Izagakhmaev Signs with One Championship
The One Championship continues to expand its roster with top Russian prospects.
On Tuesday, the former holder of the 155-pound Ultimate Fighting Championship, Khabib Nurmagomedov, announced via Instagram that his 27-year-old coaching partner, Saygid Izagakhmaev, had signed with One and would make his promotional debut in December. The hot prospect is the last Dagestan fighter to sign with One, following in the footsteps of former Black King Gafurov, Yusup Saadulaev and Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev, among others.
Nurmagomedov wrote: “I want to share news with you, my brother @saygid_izagakhmaev has signed a contract with @onechampionship and his next match will be in December. Thank you very much @yodchatri it would be impossible without you, goodbye my friend, it was my pleasure to meet you. “
Former Gorilla Fighting champion, 170kg interim champion Izagakhmaev (19-2), is running a two-game winning streak after submitting Paulo Cesar Oliveira and Maxim Butorin, both with rear chucks. In 21 fights, only current UFC wellweight Carlston Harris and UFC zipper Elias Silverio managed to beat the Eagles MMA representative. If Izagakhmaev stays at 170 kg, he will compete in the lightweight division of One.
At the time of writing, One Championship has three events scheduled for December. The first is “One X”, followed by “Winter Warriors” and “Legacy”, which will be released on December 5, December 17 and December 31, respectively. Given that COVID-19 cases are rising again in Singapore, this schedule may change, but fans can expect Izagakhmaev to make his debut on one of these cards.
