Dana White shares update on Nate Diaz’s UFC return

When will we see Nate Diaz fight in the UFC again?

It’s a question that even Nate Diaz has been asking himself on social media as the impetuous motor of the needle seeks to close out the final fight on his UFC contract. Diaz’s younger brother has been looking for another fight since mid-August, mainly against the hard-hitting Vicente Luque. But in mid-October, Díaz declared: “I don’t have a contract. There must be something wrong with Luque. “

Not so, according to Luque’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz.

“Listen, I think Nate Diaz has one fight left on his contract,” he said recently. “I think the only way the UFC will accept this fight happening [is] if Nate re-signs with the UFC. But, I don’t know if this is good for Nate to re-sign with the UFC. “

That certainly wouldn’t be too surprising given the UFC’s tough bargaining style, which is a huge talking point in the massive antitrust lawsuit making its way through the legal system right now.

When asked about the situation with Diaz after UFC Vegas 41, Dana White clarified the status of Nate’s contract, but did not expand things too much.

“He has one more fight,” White said. “We are working on a fight for him.”

Recently, there has been a lot of excitement on social media for a possible showdown between Diaz and Tony Ferguson. It’s the kind of fight that makes you drool just thinking about it, but according to White it’s not on his radar.

Tony [Ferguson] He wasn’t one of the guys we were working on, but we are working on a fight for him right now, ”he said. “He has one fight left.”

Who knows what’s going on behind the scenes, but it certainly doesn’t look like Diaz will fight in December the way he wanted.
