However exciting as the main event was, it was pale compared to their initial encounter and four other UFC 271 card fighters accumulated post-match bonuses. The usual Fight of the Night and two Performance of the Night bonuses were shared and they deserved it.
Douglas Silva de Andrade and Sergey Morozov each won $ 50,000 for their outstanding fight that led to their victory at FOTN. De Andrade was badly beaten early in their heavyweight bout when he swallowed an uppercut, knee and elbows early. Morozov had beaten and bloodied the Brazilian, but De Andrade rallied in the second frame and threw his opponent with shots to the head and body. Once on the canvas, de Andrade sank into the back naked chuck and put Morozov to sleep.
Heavyweight slugger Tai Tuivasa won $ 50,000 for the thrilling second-round knockout of hard-core fan Derrick Lewis. The Giants opened their attacks in the second after a rather indifferent starting turn and when they did, the earth almost shifted when it was over. Lewis swayed wildly for KO, but Tuivasa withstood the attack and shook Lewis with a few punches and elbows to the head. When the two men clung to the cage for a moment, Tuivasa unloaded a huge right elbow, forcing Lewis to fall face down first.
Finally, middleweight contender Jared Cannonier made a statement about a shot at the title when he hit Derek Brunson at the end of the second round. Cannonier was relentless and in control early on and put Brunson under pressure. A series of punches and elbows hit Branson and as soon as “The Killa Gorilla” threw his opponent, a series of rogue elbows on the head ended the robbery at 4:29 a.m., earning a whopping $ 50K.
