Derrick Lewis is not the person whose car you want to try to steal.
A man from the Houston area learned this lesson the hard way, as the heavyweight UFC posted a video on his Instagram account of the alleged thief arrested by local police. “Mofo chose the right / wrong car to break,” Lewis wrote. “HE’S OK.”
In addition to sharing photos and videos of the suspect and police at the scene, Lewis showed damage to his vehicle and revealed bruises on his joints in an Instagram story.
Houston Police Department Public Information Officer Judy Silva confirmed to MMAFighting.com that Lewis arrested the suspect when he returned from training and heard noises on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
“Sir. Lewis says he went to the suspect, hit him, put him on the ground until the police arrived,” said Silva. “This is the best way to put it.”
The suspect was then taken to hospital and then remanded in custody on Tuesday afternoon.
Lewis is currently in a four-game winning streak at the UFC and is expected to face reigning heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou at an event later this summer, although this race has not been officially confirmed by the bid.
