Diego Sanchez Withdraws from UFC on ESPN 24 Matchup with Donald Cerrone – MMA Root

The UFC at ESPN 24 has taken another hit as Diego Sanchez is out of the proposed welterweight clash with Donald Cerrone.

The reason for Sanchez’s withdrawal is currently unknown. Carlos Contreras Legaspi brought Sanchez out for the first time Twitter. This is the second major card loss in two days: A cut in training forced TJ Dillashaw to leave the main event against Cory Sandhagen. This fight will be rescheduled, and a Straw Woman clash with Michelle Waterson against Marina Rodriguez has been targeted as the new title.

Sanchez and Cerrone were previously trained at the Jackson-Wink MMA in Albuquerque and tensions erupted between the two when Sanchez took over from coach Mike Winkeljohn when the “Cowboy” left the gym before a match against Mike Perry S. is no longer in Jackson-Wink.

According to many reports, a replacement for Cerrone is required.

The UFC at ESPN 24 takes place May 8 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and in addition to the Waterson-Rodriguez title, features a welterweight bout between Geoff Neal and Neil Magny.
