Douglas Lima will defend his welterweight crown against Yaroslav Amosov at the Bellator 260 main event on June 11.
The California-based promotion announced the pairing on Friday. The Bellator 260 takes place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The main card will be shown on Showtime at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT, while the preliminary stream on the Bellator MMA YouTube channel, the Showtime Sports YouTube channel and Pluto TV.
After beating Rory MacDonald in a five-round decision to regain the 170-pound belt in the Bellator 232 welterweight championship final, Lima tried to become a two-time champion last year. His transition to middleweight did not go so well as he threw a five-round decision at champion Gegard Mousasi at the Bellator 250 last October.
“I’m drawn to go back to the cage and show everyone why I’m the scariest welterweight in the game,” Lima said. “Amosov is an opponent of the game, who has risen in the standings against the top competition. It’s more than worthy of this title, but that’s still my division and that doesn’t change any time soon. “
The 27-year-old Amosov has not yet experienced defeat in 25 professional outings. It is 6-0 under the Bellator banner and comes from a triumph with decisions against Logan Storley at the Bellator 252 last November.
“It is an honor to challenge Douglas Lima for the Bellator welterweight title,” said Amosov. “I have been dreaming of becoming a champion ever since I chose this path of MMA. Here I am, undefeated and on the verge of winning gold. “
