DWCS Season 5: Week 9 results: Gadzhi Omargadzhiev taps Jansey Silva with kneebar, 5 contracts awarded

Gadzhi Omargadzhiev looked quite capable of holding the leadership position and crushing Yansi Silva. He then turned to lock the leg and left Silva screaming and pounding when the bar kicked in in week nine of DWCS Season 5.

Omargadzhiev extended his unbeaten streak to 13 and recorded the first subwoofer in Contender Series history, adding to his record a 4:19 mark in the starting frame of the middleweight headliner at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.

Omargadzhiev was an easy pick when contracts were handed out on Tuesday night and he joined Manuel Torres, Karina Silva, Javid Basharat and Christian Kinonez as fighters heading to the UFC.

Quinonez Closes Long

Xiao Long held the center of the octagon for almost 15 minutes and did his best to punch Christian Quinonez. All too often, however, he left his chin open and made a lot of sharp punches, mixing them up.

Unable to defeat Quinonez, Long was forced to fire and hit the canvas at the end of the second. The uppercut and hook shook him hard in the third, and the last splash wasn’t enough to erase the points he lost at the start of the three-round competition. All three judges gave Quinonez a 30-27 shutout.

Basharat beats up Kahlon before surrendering

After Javid Basharat put Oron Kahlon on the carpet, he made the most of his advantage. Elbow opened Kahlon’s eyebrow and became a preview for the next two rounds as Basharat outnumbered his opponent at every turn.

The bantamweight bout, rebooked as a 139th competition after Kahlon skipped weight, got some pretty good blood when Kahlon, an Israeli native, called Basharat, an Afghan native, a terrorist. But in the end it was almost a one-way traffic as Basharat beat his opponent before tightening the guillotine at 4:12 in the third round.

Silva outsmarted Qihui with a second round substitution

Yang Qihui’s strength was evident not only from her enormous physique, but also from her ability to muscular Karin Silva around her cage. This power could have won with a little more experience.

In the first round, Qihui was terribly close to giving the rare gogo pay to the lesser Silva, and in the second, she crashed right into the choke guillotine, which delivered an exhausted kick to the former weightlifter for 1:44 rounds. …

Alleged hail in front of Torres TKO

Colton Englund provided Manuel Torres with an excellent stationary target, and Torres managed to unload him in the short time he spent in the cage. If it were not for the dull look that allegedly took place before his victory, Torres might have left with impunity. But the irregular final made it difficult for him to win.

Englund stepped back after clinching about the middle of the first frame and said he had been poked in the eye. However, referee Herb Dean did not stop the fight, and Torres jumped into the attack. With a kick to the head and a few punches, Englund hit the deck, securing a TKO at 2:10 in the first frame.

Murad’s punch day versus Bean’s fight

In another record of fighting against a flashy debate in MMA refereeing, Olivier Murad made a split decision, chasing Xie Bin through the cage with punches, repeatedly landing with his left hand that caused injury.

Murad spent the rest of the time on his back, refusing takedown after takedown, as Bean discovered a serious flaw in takedown defense. If Bean did more damage and wasn’t content to hang out in Murad’s open guard, he could end any ambiguity and earn critical marks. In the end, however, two of the three judges gave Murad a pair of points 29-28, with one disagreeing with Bean with the same score.
