Edson Barboza vs. Bryce Mitchell Set For March 5 Fight Night – MMA Root

A major clash of styles will take place on March 5 as the brilliant striker Edson Barbosa takes on undefeated upstart submission Bryce Mitchell.

MMA Junkie first broke the news of this featherweight bout on Thursday. It will be Mitchell’s first fight in 2021 and veteran Barbosa’s third performance in the Octagon this year. No location or main event has been announced for this map at this time.

It was just Tuesday that Mitchell openly challenged his fellow featherweight weights in hopes of a fight. Less than 48 hours later, he fulfilled his wish in the finished Barbosa ascending the stage.

The undefeated Mitchell is 5-0 in the UFC, 14-0 overall. On paper, there is no doubt that this fight will be the 27-year-old’s most challenging career challenge. Mitchell most recently defeated another UFC veteran, Andre Fili, in his last fight last October.

Edson Barbosa has been fighting and earning UFC performance bonuses for over a decade. Just last year, he decided to dive into a featherweight pool. After the jump, Barbosa played 2: 2, the last time losing in August to Dynamo striker Giga Chikadze.

Make no mistake, though, Barbosa has seen his hand lifted at the end of UFC competitions more times than not, including victories over the likes of Dan Hooker, Beneil Dariush, Anthony Pettis and Paul Felder.

MMA news will keep you posted on further updates related to this Fight Night event on March 5th.
