Former UFC champ Chuck Liddell arrested, jailed on charges of domestic violence

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell was arrested and jailed on domestic violence charges Monday in Agoura Hills, California, according to TMZ, following an altercation with his wife, Heidi Northcott.

Bail was set at $ 20,000.

Liddell, who will turn 52 in December, first walked away from mixed martial arts (MMA) in the summer of 2010, but was pulled out of retirement in 2018 for a trilogy fight alongside Tito Ortiz. “The Iceman” melted into the opening draw and has not competed since.

His short-lived role as a UFC executive ended with the sale of ZUFFA to Endeavor.

This is the second domestic violence arrest for a former UFC light heavyweight champion in the past month. Jon Jones was previously booked in late September after conducting a physical with his fiancé in Las Vegas and is expected to return to court on October 26.

Jason “Mayhem” Miller was also incarcerated for domestic violence just a few weeks ago.

Details are still scant in Liddell’s case, but you can expect more information to start pouring in in the next few days, if not sooner. No statement yet from UFC president Dana White, a longtime friend of Liddell’s, or the promotion’s public relations team.

Stay tuned.
