Francisco Figueiredo gets new date, third different opponent for UFC return – MMA Root

After all, Francisco Figueiredo will not return to the octagon in May.

The older brother of UFC flyweight champion Daveson Figueiredo has agreed to fight Malcolm Gordon on the UFC Fight Night card on July 17, several people with knowledge of the booking told MMA Fighting. Combate was the first to report the change.

The UFC has yet to announce the venue and headlining for the Fight Night event.

Figueiredo was originally scheduled to meet Jimmy Flick on May 8, but after Flick’s unexpected retirement, JP Buys intervened. It is not yet clear what led to Bice being removed from the map.

The Brazilian Flyweight, 12-3-1-1 as a pro, first entered the Octagon in January for his first MMA fight in 14 months, beating Jerome Rivera via unanimous decision in Abu Dhabi.

Gordon (12-5) gets another chance under the UFC banner after starting 0-2 with the company in 2020, losing a couple of first-round stops to Amir Albazi and Su Mudaerjee. Gordon was the flyweight king by TKO in his native Canada before signing with the UFC last year.
