Gina Carano will return to the big screen.
Earlier this year, Carano was removed from The Mandalorian due to a series of controversial social media posts. However, she has since been signed to the conservative website The Daily Wire for the lead role and production. Now she has ordered her second film to be a western.
It has already been announced that she will star in the film “White Knuckle”, based on the book of the same name by writer Eric Red. However, the focus of the former MMA fighter will be a film called Terror on the Prairie, which is expected to be released in early 2022.
According to MMAFighting, Terror on the Prarie is a pioneer family that resists a gang of vicious criminals terrorizing them at their newly built farm in the great plains of Montana. Carano will be the star of the project, which is also filming in Montana, where Dallas Sonnier (Bone Tomahawk) will produce the film and Michael Polish (Northern People, The Farmer Astronaut) will direct the film.
Gina Carano will also not be the only MMA fighter to star in the film as a UFC fighter, Donald Cerrone has already received a film commission. Cerrone was also part of Mark Wahlberg’s “Spencer’s Secrets,” which aired on Netflix.
Carano last competed in MMA back in 2009, where she made her Strikeforce debut and topped the card against Chris Cyborg for the featherweight title. She ended her MMA career with a 7-1 record and had notable victories over Caitlyn Young, Tonya Evinger and Julie Kedzie.
Meanwhile, Cerrone last fought in May, where he was defeated by TKO to Alex Morono. He has lost his last six last six games as he has 0-5 with one no contest and has now hinted at a return to lightweight in early 2022.
