After signing Yuri Sims (77-23-1) and Marcus Almeida “Buchecha (138-14-1), the well-known promotion of Asian MMA, One FC has maintained its thirst for the ADCC Champions, adding the double gold Gordon Ryan (83-5-3) on their roster, as mentioned on the Twitter profile of the event founder – Chatri Sityodtong (see below).
The One Fighting Championship had a long-term relationship with Ryan’s closest friends, having signed two of the most important coaches on Ryan’s rapid rise to take the star, Tom Demblas, and Gary Tonon in the past, evidence that would undoubtedly have helped the negotiations
Very few details have been released about the OFC acquisition, but New Jersey-born Gordon Ryan is running in Puerto Rico with his longtime trainer, John Danacher, away from a martial arts camp. Sityodtong tweeted that the contract signed included matches and Gordon has expressed a desire to compete in the 2022 ADCC World Championships, so it is unlikely that a full transition to mixed martial arts will take place in the near future.
If Gordon switches to MMA, he will be the 3rd top-level jiu-jitsu athlete to turn to cage combat from January, following his move announcements Lucas «Hulk» Barbosa and Jenna Bishop earlier this year.
