Greg Hardy reveals grisly finger injury, removal from UFC 270 bout with Sergey Spivak

The first UFC PPV in 2022 took another hit.

Greg Hardy revealed on Friday that a finger injury injured him during a scheduled fight with Sergei Spivak at UFC 270. MMA Fighting subsequently confirmed the news to several people with knowledge of the situation.

The former NFL player posted a photo of the injury on his Instagram along with the announcement that he would no longer be fighting on January 22.

Sources with knowledge of the promotion’s plans have confirmed to MMA Fighting that the current plan is to reschedule the match between Hardy and Spivak, although the timing is unknown.

The change came a day after Spivak was included in the fight as a replacement for Alexei Oleinik, who was forced to pull out of his originally scheduled fight with Hardy for undisclosed reasons.

UFC 270 will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California and will feature a heavyweight title fight between Francis Ngannou and Cyril Gein. Additionally, Brandon Moreno will put his flyweight title on the line against Deiveson Figueiredo in the co-main event slot.
