Gregor Gillespie rips Tony Ferguson: ‘I beat the sh*t out of Mike Chandler in college, and I will f*ck you up in wrestling, too’
Gregor Gillespie may be one of the softest fighters in the entire UFC roster. But that all changed after he said that Tony Ferguson was not interested in facing him.
The former NCAA Division I Wrestling Champion on Thursday accused Ferguson of giving up a fight with him and also challenged Michael Chandler through his social media channels.
“Just got word from my manager again that Tony Ferguson won’t take a fight against me,” Gillespie said. “Then I see you online, Tony, calling the fucking Michael Chandler, saying it’s wrestling season now, bro! Dude, you know I’m a fighter bro.
“I knocked the shit out of Mike Chandler in college, and I’ll fuck you in wrestling too. If you’re looking for a wrestler, bro, get a fighter, dude. “
Gillespie is widely regarded as one of the best promising lightweight players in the UFC since signing with the promotion. After his first loss of his career, a brutal knockout against Kevin Lee in 2019, Gillespie fought back in the second round by defeating Diego Ferreira to earn him the Fight of the Night award.
In terms of his wrestling praise, Gillespie fared best to Chandler when they last met in 2009 when he lost 10-2 to a future UFC title challenger during the NCAA 157-lb Wrestling Championship. Gillespie has earned All-American honors for the fourth time in his college career, not counting his 2007 149-pound champion title.
Ferguson, who is looking to get back into the winning column after losing several fights against Charles Oliveira and Benail Dariush, recently called for Chandler to fight.
Now he hit the scope of Gillespie.
“I need to start climbing and none of you seem to want to fight me, damn it,” Gillespie said. “Tony, you and I are so damn accessible. We’ve been available since that freaking weekend. I was the last to fight, and on the weekend you fought. It’s time, bro. Let’s fucking do it.
Call the fucking Chandler because it’s fighting season. Get out of here, bro. I am a fighter. “
