‘I Feel Like S—t and That’s It’
Jan Blachowicz was quite concise in summing up his performance against Glover Teixeira in the UFC 267 headliner.
The Polish veteran struggled to stay upright to show off his knockout strength as Teixera easily lowered him into the opening turn of the light heavyweight bout. Blachowicz did not panic despite being on his back for much of Round 1. However, it was not long before he was grounded again in the second frame after being surprised by a left Teixeira hook. This time, the Brazilian easily moved to his position, jumped backwards and leveled Blachowicz for a victory at the back of the chuck.
“Everything was fine,” Blachowicz said. “In the first round I think he would take me down, but I still do not feel bad in this position. I say okay, this round is now for him, the second round I will start working, I will do my job.
“It simply came to our notice then. He downloads me again and submits me. What more can I say? I feel like s— and that’s it. “
Blachowicz claimed the vacant title with a knockout of Dominick Reyes before starting pound-by-pound discussions with a five-round defense against UFC’s middleweight king Israel Adesanya. The WCA Fight Team member entered Saturday with victories in nine of his last 10 outings and was a significant favorite against Teixeira.
In the defeat, Blachowicz vowed to return to fix things that went wrong in Abu Dhabi.
“My performance today was horrible,” Blachowicz said. “I do not know. I was not a champion today, he. He is.
“I do not know, I need time to think about it, but something was definitely wrong. It was not me. I do not want to explain, it hit me, everyone sees it. It’s not over, I’m not giving up, I’m not going anywhere, I will definitely come back here. I definitely need to rest, think a little and I will definitely be back. I am not giving up, I am not a coward, I will not give up. You will see me again in the octagon “.
While Blachowicz would like an opportunity to face Teixeira again on the road, he acknowledges that he will need a few wins to deserve a rematch.
“We will see what happens in the future,” he said. If there is an opportunity to get a rematch, of course I would like to have a rematch with [everyone I lost to before]. “First of all, now I do not have the opportunity for a rematch, now I have to prove that I have to go back and win two games.”
