Alexander Volkov hopes the next UFC Octagon fight and victory will bring him closer to the Championship game with Francois Ngannou.

At the UFC Vegas 30 gala in the fight of the night, fans will see a duel in the royal weight class between Alexander Volkov and Ciryl Gane.

Volkov is now ranked fifth in the UFC heavyweight table and Gane third. The Russian therefore hopes that the beating of Gane will bring him closer to the fight for the belt. In an interview for the South China Morning Post, Volkov said:

Of course, there is no certainty, but it seems logical. Our new champion has announced that he wants to fight three or even four times a year, so we can face it soon. I will be happy to fight it and I will be ready for it.

Aleksander Volkov is on the wave of two consecutive wins. In February of this year, he crushed Alistair Overeem, who ended his adventure with the UFC after that fight. At the end of last year, Alexander beat Walt Harris, also finishing ahead of the schedule.

Francis Ngannou is set to face Derrick Lewis in the next fight, but their duel has yet to be officially announced. Jon Jones, who has long been preparing for his debut in the royal weight class, is also in the queue for the champion.
