‘I’m Very Fortunate to Go through Contender Series’

On Saturday, Jasmine Jasudavicius will make her Ultimate Fighting Championship debut when she faces Kay Hansen on the preliminary UFC 270 card. Jasudavicius (6-1, 0-0 UFC) earned her UFC contract after outpointing Julia Polastri in the Contender Series from Dana White. The experience helped Jasudavicius get over her nervousness for the promotional debut as the Canadian has already experienced what it feels like to be in the spotlight before a UFC event. Now she feels like she already knows how to deal with media and fan pressure.

“It was a great experience, I’m so happy I had to go through the Contender Series before my UFC debut,” Jasudavicius told Sherdog. “I feel like that was almost my UFC debut. Going there, staying at the UFC hotel is like seeing them run the show and, you know, all the media in the background. Not for the first time that it reaches you, but you notice it. Now that I’m moving on to my real debut, I feel like that’s behind me, it’s like, ‘Oh yeah, I was there, did that.’ It won’t shake me at all. I think I’m very lucky to be able to go through the Contender Series. It’s almost like this was my debut and this first fight is just another fight in the UFC like many more to come.”

Jasudavicius explained that she doesn’t know why the UFC postponed their duel with Hansen to UFC 270 from their originally scheduled spot at UFC on ESPN 32. The Niagara Top Team representative also picked her winners for the upcoming map’s headliner and co-main event.
