An interesting middleweight bout between Jack Hermansson and Edmen Shahbazyan has been underway for a week.
The fight, originally scheduled for UFC 262 this Saturday, will take place at UFC Fight Night 188 on May 22. DNA MMA was the first to report the news and was later told by UFC President Dana White
TSN that the postponement was due to a positive COVID-19 case at Camp Hermansson.
UFC Fight Night 188 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and focuses on a lightweight bout between Cody Garbrandt and Rob Font.
Hermansson has missed two of his last three appearances at the Octagon. Most recently, “The Joker” cast a five-round verdict against Marvin Vettori at the UFC on ESPN 19 on December 5th. His 8-4 ad includes victories for Kelvin Gastelum, Ronaldo Souza, David Branch and Thales Leites.
Shahbazyan, meanwhile, suffered his first career loss in 12 outings at UFC Fight Night 173, where he fell to Derek Brunson through a third-round technical knockout. Dana White’s Alum contender began her UFC tenure with four consecutive triumphs, finishing three of them in one round.
Hermansson vs. Shahbazyan is the second key fight to be removed from the UFC 262 series. at UFC 263 for unknown reasons.
