Jake Paul says ‘a lot of big fighters in the UFC’ support him privately but can’t publicly out of fear of reprisal

Jake Paul may look like a one-man army going to war with the UFC and Dana White, but he promises there are silent masses within the promotion who support him.

After releasing a ‘diss track’ aimed at the UFC president and business practices that Paul called unfair to athletes, the 25-year-old undefeated boxer says several well-known fighters have reached out to him privately to show support, but no one cannot do it in public for fear of biting the hand that feeds them.

“There are a lot of fighters in the UFC – a lot of serious fighters – who send me private messages and say, “We love it, it’s fun.” Go ahead, but I can’t support this publicly,” Paul said Monday on Hour of MMA.

Paul had a nasty verbal spat with White over the past year, discussing his boxing career and his criticism of the UFC, especially when it comes to paying fighters.

Aside from his musical ambition to get under White’s skin, Paul also recently acquired shares in UFC parent company Endeavor in an effort to try and make fundamental changes from the inside. He also said he was considering forming a fighters’ union.

While Paul says his efforts are about helping UFC fighters earn more and earn more, he doesn’t ask anyone to publicly support him because he knows that being targeted against them can be devastating.

“I don’t want them to make sacrifices,” Paul said. “They have to put food on their family’s table. As I said earlier, I have a platform to do this. So I take responsibility and I’m going to do it. I made this decision. I’m going to war and I won’t back down, no matter what happens. I don’t need UFC fighters to support this.

“Behind the scenes, it would be great if they supported it and talked about it and promoted these movements, and obviously if there is a union of fighters, everyone in the UFC should join to build strength and improve things. for yourself and a better life for yourself. But I don’t need them to publicly diss or anything, because they’ll just get fucked, and I don’t want that. I want them to win and make more money.”

Paul’s constant attacks on White and the UFC have gotten him a lot of attention, but also skepticism about whether he really cares about helping UFC fighters.

Because he has already amassed such a large following after first becoming known as an influencer and YouTube star, Paul doesn’t stop people from following his every move. This is a big part of why Paul is quick to defend his true intentions, though he’s also happy that his actions speak louder than his words.

“I’m not going to be off gas anytime soon and I’ve spent a ton of my own money on this thing and promoting these things,” Paul said. “Every day I wake up with a purpose and I think I’ve done more than enough to show women’s boxing, fighter pay, equality, fighters, boxing promoters – I’ve done more than enough in terms of action. And even more maps earlier, almost every fighter that was on it, it is always their highest salary.

“I got from Tyron Woodley his highest salary, from Ben Askren his highest salary. So these fighters who are always mistreated, I take action, I support them. I won’t let go anytime soon and I really care. I really give a fuck. I’ve done too much and it’s nothing for me. I like it. I like it. I feel a responsibility to be a part of this movement and it is gaining momentum. This is exactly what I wanted and I’m happy to continue to be one of the leaders in this conversation.”

With a successful boxing career that has made him big money over the past year, Paul knows he can just sit back, relax, and enjoy his millions. But he says it won’t give him the same satisfaction as helping the fighters he watches and admires from afar.

“For those who don’t think I’m serious about this, you’ll see,” Paul said. “We are talking to lawyers to start the process of creating a union of fighters. I don’t spend all my time and money. I could do anything. Last year I made $45 million. I have a cool friend. I have a Lamborghini. I can go to the club. I could go to dinner. I could hang out with rappers. I could retire. I could make my crypto investments and give it all up. I have everything I want in life, but most of all I enjoy helping other people.

“I noticed that in the long run it brings me more. To make people think that I spend all this time doing all these things behind the scenes – there are so many things that people don’t even see. They see the interview and they see me talking about it, but in fact, in great detail, getting my elbows dirty, I’m there. I’m in the weeds and people will see it.”
