Jake Paul says he wants to make a real difference in the world of martial arts.
The boxer and entertainer has previously mentioned that he thinks UFC fighters are mistreating the promotion. He called out UFC President Dana White and in the past demanded that White take steps to better accommodate his fighters.
Now Paul says he wants to start a union for MMA and boxing fighters. This statement was made during an interview with ESPN, where he mentioned that fighters deserve better pay and medical care.
“I want to form a fighters’ union,” Paul said during a recent appearance on ESPN’s “The First Take.” “My goal is to really impact the entire sport, both MMA and boxing, and leave an indelible mark. It just so happens that I don’t owe anyone. Many of these UFC fighters are indebted to Dana White. They can’t oppose him so I’m using my platform because I’m one of the very few people who can really.”
New chapter in Jake Paul vs Dana White?
Recently, Paul has been constantly harassing the UFC and their management. In early January, Paul issued an ultimatum to Dana White, stating that he would join the promotion if they met his list of demands. This list included the provision of medical assistance to fighters and an increase in the minimum wage of a fighter.
Now Paul is teasing a diss track that will be addressed to White. He recently posted a photo of himself in a fake MMA cage that appears to have been used for the filming of the music video. This the post was signed “Tomorrow. Diss track,” White noted in the post. Meanwhile, White recently vowed never to discuss Jake Paul again.
Some wonder if Paul is really campaigning for higher wages for fighters, or if he’s just chasing the UFC for popularity. Many people, including UFC fighter Anthony Smith, argue that Paul is likely sincere in his message.
