Jessica Eye Out of UFC Fight Night 197; Cynthia Calvillo Steps in to Face Andrea Lee

An illness forced Jessica Eye to retire from a proposed fight over Andrea Lee at UFC Fight Night 197.

As a result, Cynthia Calvillo will face Lee on November 13. MMAjunkie.com was the first to report the new booking. UFC Fight Night 197 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and is led by a winged incline that brings Max Holloway against Yair Rodriguez.

Eye announced its withdrawal in a recent story on Instagram.

“[This past Thursday], I thought I was having an allergic reaction to fish eggs that I did not notice in my sushi [roll] “until it ‘s too late,” Eye wrote on Instagram. “Extremely allergic to eggs. Thursday night is when the fever started. So I followed the protocol when I am exposed to a food allergy. Thursday was rough but I woke up on Friday feeling fine [with] brain fog, which is usually [a] symptom after an allergic attack or exposure to foods to which I am allergic.

“Friday was a normal day and I was ready for this weekend, but I felt like the adrenaline was holding me back. However, on Friday night the fever returned. At this point, I had a negative COVID
[test] that’s how i got it. I was like fish eggs. “

As the symptoms persisted, Eye was admitted to hospital at the weekend, so she chose to focus on her health rather than the fight against Lee.

“On Saturday morning, I was shaking in the morning and I felt normal, so to speak,” Eye explained. “I took another allergy pill just in case, took a nap, got up and went to the competition. I felt very hot, but definitely shaky and off, but it’s me, I took it out. After Saturday night, [that’s] the worst I have ever felt in my life. Body aches, fever, sweat more than ever even in a weight loss. Then I feel that I could not ignore it anymore.

“On Sunday I was admitted to the hospital with severe pain so bad that I could not bear it or did not cry. They are still doing tests and it seems that we have a clear diagnosis which I will share soon, but I will spend a few days in the hospital.

“My team and I decided to fight this fight and focus on my health,” Eye said. “I have been fighting for a year now and it is my first priority. I have already lost my gallbladder. “I do not intend to lose anymore.”

Calvillo made a successful heavyweight debut with a five-round Eye for UFC verdict at ESPN 10 in June 2020, but has since dropped back-to-back fights against Jessica Andrade and Katlyn Chookagian.

Lee, meanwhile, stopped the reversal of three games with a second-round victory over Antonina Shevchenko at UFC 262.
