The results of the UFC Vegas 25 were full of decision after decision, but the race card ended strongly with two blister finishes in the main and co-main events.
Jiri Prochazka beats Dominick Reyes to win the title
Dominic Reese hit Jiri Prochazka and the Czech fighter returned the favor, all within the first two minutes of the UFC Vegas 25 main event. Reyes recovered and took Prochazka to the canvas.
It did not take long for Prochazka to return to the fight on foot, where she got rid of Reyes, injuring the former title contender. However, Reyes did not, offering several combinations in the last moments of the round. Prochazka ate the shots and continued to comb Reyes’ bloody nose forward.
The American responded with several more punches, but Prochazka seemed to get the shots better than Reyes and responded again with an inflatable combination that shocked Reyes before the end of the round.
Reyes started the round of two strongmen, unfolding with punching combinations and kicking Prochazka on the canvas. But the Czech continued to push forward, showing little effect from the shots, as he continued to throw his own punches and kicks.
Reyes shook him and Prochazka changed levels, seeking abolition, instead of being caught in a guillotine drowning. Reyes fell on his back, but could not finish drowning Prochazka escaped and got up, Reyes threw him with an upkick
Somehow surviving the brutal upkick, Prochazka got the fight back on its feet. A few minutes later, Prochazka supported Reyes on the fence, releasing a right elbow followed by a left rotating elbow that dropped Reyes face down on the canvas.
A former light heavyweight champion Rizin FF and just two UFC batsmen, Prochazka is now expected to get a shot at the winner of the UFC light heavyweight bout between Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira, scheduled for September 4. UFC 266.
Faced with the fact that UFC President Dana White said she would take the title, Prochazka simply said, “Oh, okay. Yes, I’m ready. Let’s do it.”
“Before the UFC, all my games taught only me and my team to get better and better to get into the UFC and get a title.”
Giga Chikadze finishes Cub Swanson with Giga Kick
The co-main event of UFC Vegas 25 started with many promises, but ended quickly with a brutal kick to the liver.
Giga Chikadze and Cub Swanson exchanged several hard punches in the first moments of the match. Just as the fight began to flow, Chikanche unleashed his patented liver kick (also known as Giga Kick). The effects were immediately written all over Swanson’s tormented face as he fell to his knees.
Chikadze hesitated, thinking that the referee could have stopped the match. While the referee was waiting, Chikanche turned to Swansea and landed a few punches that forced the match to end at 1:03 of the round.
“I had to tell all the top 15 that I am here. “If you did not know my name, now you know,” Tsikandze said after the match. “I had to bring the fire.”
After the victory, Chikadze respectfully invited former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway.
“Max Holloway, it would be an honor to fight you because you are one of the best and I really want to fight you.”
Ion Cutelaba and Dustin Jacoby end up in a disappointing draw
Ion Cutelaba put his fight with Dustin Jacoby in jeopardy on Friday, grabbing Jacoby by the neck during the face-off. Fortunately, there was no repeat of Jeremy Stephens vs. Drakkar Klose and Cutelabla vs. Jacoby’s period went as planned. It was a toe-to-toe battle, but the end result left something to be desired.
Jacoby started out strong, looking much harder at his feet, but Cutelaba finally caught him. Jacoby came back pretty fast each time, but Cutelaba threw him repeatedly throughout the round, landing punches or elbows after almost every removal.
Cutelaba returned to the rematch in the second round. It worked well for the first two minutes, but Jacoby started filling them in and holding Cutelaba in the bay with his jab and occasionally landing with the upper and right cross. Jacom pulled Kutelaba with his right hand in the seconds of the second round, but could not put him down.
Jacoby started the final round with a hard kick to the body. Cutelaba kept swinging, but seemed to have lost one or two steps from the first round. Not as worried about being eliminated as he was in the first round, Jacoby swayed with more punches in the final.
Cutelaba dug deep and continued firing. Jacob just lost with a huge knee that he threw and then went for his own removal. Cutelaba filled it. Jacoby got the abolition on his next attempt, but came with about 10 seconds to go.
When the scorecards were read, one judge saw it in favor of Jacoby, another in favor of Cutelaba, and the final judge ruled it a tie for an overall tie result.
