John Lineker destroys Troy Worthen in ONE on TNT Part III

Troy Worthen came up late to face John Lineker in a lightweight bout at ONE on TNT Part III. Shuya Kamikubo was originally scheduled to take over, while the Brazilian was committed to fighting Stephen Loman.

A positive Covid – 19 test for Loman caused a last – minute reshuffle and Worthen faced Lineker instead at the Singapore Interior Stadium. The UFC veteran has too much for the Sanford MMA spokesman who was knocked out with 25 seconds left in the opening round.

From the start bell, Lineker started his stable to walk his opponent down and feathers hard hooks on his body and head. Worthen was temporarily trying to cope with kicks, but was given a short pause when a right hook from Brazil moved below the waistline.

The fight resumed and Lineker was back in the front leg, shooting hard hooks at the body. Worthen landed a body kick, but was on the receiving end of a left-handed piece followed by a hard left hook.

A left-hander by Worthen seemed to pull Lineker off the balance and stumbled a little. But the Brazilian was unspecified and continued to move forward, landing some heavy shots on the body and head.

Worthen shot for his first cancellation of the match, but it was easily loaded. Another kick from the American was perfectly timed by Lineker who threw his foot.

With Worthen anticipating more hooks in Lineker’s body change strategy and throwing a straight right that was clearly connected. He threw the American hard and the sequel left him cold on the canvas.

With the victory, John Lineker went up to 34-9 and it is difficult to question the credentials of his title. Worthen drops to 7-2, but deserves credit for going too far to get the fight very little.

Rae Yoon Ok (14-3) will fight Eddie Alvarez next week. He beat an exhausted Marat Gafurov (18-4) by deciding to win a shot at the former UFC and lightweight champion Bellator.
