Jonathan Pearce now meets Christian Rodriguez at UFC Vegas 48
Jonathan Pierce has a new opponent for this Saturday.
Pierce was originally scheduled to fight Austin Lingo at featherweight at UFC Vegas 48, but Lingo was forced out of the bout last week due to an undisclosed injury. Instead, Pierce will now take on Christian Rodriguez in a preliminary bout.
Undefeated Rufusport Academy prospect Rodriguez (6-0) made his seventh week appearance Dana WhiteX Challenge Series in 2021 with a unanimous decision victory over Junior Cortez. Unfortunately, Rodriguez missed out on weight for the bantamweight fight by two pounds and thus was not awarded a contract with the UFC. Now Rodriguez will still get a shot in the UFC when he goes to fight Pierce.
Pierce (11-4) entered the UFC in 2019, knocking out Jacob Rosales in the tournament. Challenge Series. The Arizona fighter lost his UFC lightweight debut against Joe Lauzon but then moved up to featherweight where he scored two wins in a row, the most recent being submission of Omar Morales in the second round at the UFC. 266.
UFC Vegas 48 takes place this Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
