The “J-Train” believes it will run over Aaron Pico at Bellator 271.
After making a successful promotional debut by defeating Tywan Claxton in a close split decision at Bellator 260, Justin Gonzales (12-0, 1-0 Bellator) is now ready to take on wrestling prodigy Pico. Speaking to Sherdog, Gonzales stated that he understood the hype behind Pico pretty well before adding that his cage performances earned him a lot of respect. However, the Dana White’s Contender Series alum is confident that he will take advantage of all the holes in Pico’s game.
“He goes out and risks it every time,” said the Top Notch MMA rep. “As I said, and as the world knows, he’s either putting people out or he’s going out. As a fighter you have to respect, respect what he’s doing, but as someone I play against, I feel like he has a lot of gaps in his game that I can point out. It’s hard man because he brings people out and has a bit of a highlight role, so I think he deserves a little of what he’s got. ”
Gonzales pointed to his opponent’s overwhelming ability to land his punches when asked about the main flaw he sees in Pico’s fighting style.
“He’s trying too much power punch,” he added. “Looping beats [and then] Grapple with panic. He fought a lot of guys who weren’t good grabs, so you can get away with a few things. ”
Gonzales also gave his prediction for the fight, talking about the newest installment in the “Halloween” franchise, his win over Clayton, and more.
