Katlyn Chookagian-Jennifer Maia Rematch Targeted for UFC Event on Jan. 15
A rematch of former flyweight contenders is set for early next year as Katlyn Chookagian and Jennifer Maia are expected to compete in a UFC event on January 15th.
MMA Ideas first mentioned the fight. The location for the card has not yet been officially announced, but Calvin Kattar and Giga Chikadze will meet at the main event of the night.
Chookagian and Maia competed for the first time in UFC 244, with Chookagian winning by unanimous decision. This pushed the “Blonde Fighter” to a title shot at UFC 247, where she suffered a TKO defeat in the third round by Valentina Shevchenko. Team spokeswoman Renzo Gracie has won three of her last four matches since then, including a decision triumph over Viviane Araujo in her last appearance at UFC 262.
Maia, meanwhile, faced Shevchenko at UFC 255, where she lost a clear unanimous decision last November. He went up to get a three-round verdict against Jessica Eye at UFC 264 on July 10.
