Kelvin Gastelum maintains a positive attitude after his defeat by Robert Whittaker in the UFC in the main event of ESPN 22 last Saturday.
Gastelum shared the “Fight of the Night” award with his opponent for a period during which he lost a unanimous decision at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. While Gastelum pushed the Whittaker throughout the match and showed a resilient chin, he had no answers for the former champion’s flexible offensive arsenal at the end of the night.
The winner of “The Ultimate Fighter 17” released a statement expressing the desire to remain “one of the best” on social media.
“I am receiving an attack of amazing messages and I am happy [people]
“I enjoyed the fight,” Gastelm wrote. “Thank you all for sending even the slightest positive movement and messages
I still believe that I can complete the work and be one of the best! I would not say that to say it, I believe it with all my heart. I am learning a lot from my opponents and I will make the necessary adjustments for the next battle. We are in the next. “

Gastelum has lost four of his last five appearances at the Octagon, dating back to a five-round defeat by Israel Adesanya in a mid-season UFC 236. His only win of that season was a decision-making victory over him. Ian Heinisch at UFC 258.
