Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has a great idea for a fight in 2022.
It’s no secret that Nurmagomedov is one of the best fighters to ever grace the Octagon. He also took on the role of coach and is even a promoter for the Eagle Fighting Championship. While Khabib is a man of many talents, perhaps adding a UFC matchmaker isn’t a bad idea.

“Yan vs TJ 2022 in Russia”.
Sean Shelby (pictured above), eat your heart.
Of course, Nurmagomedov is talking about Petr Yan and TJ Dillashaw. Yan lost the UFC bantamweight title to Aljamain Sterling in May via DQ when he kneed downed Sterling in the face. Dillashaw just won a split decision over Cory Sandhagen after being out of action since early 2019 due to a two-year suspension.
In June, Nurmagomedov intervened in Yan’s DQ loss during an interview with UFC Russia.
“Speaking of Yan, yes, he made a big mistake. It cost him his belt. However, if Petr does his homework well, he will benefit greatly from this. First of all, you need to continue your training process and stay hungry and focused. I think he will be given a fight this year, or even a rematch, and he deserves it. Anyway, I think you need it and it will help you a lot. I hope you find a way to use it for your own benefit. We’ll see when he gets a rematch and takes the belt. I think that is how it should be. Like a good Turkish TV show, there is always a happy ending. “
Yan will face Sterling for the second time on October 30. The fight will appear on the UFC 267 undercard.
