A lightweight bout with Diego Ferreira against Gregor Gillespie has been added to the UFC on ESPN 24.
ESPN first reported the booking. The UFC at ESPN 24 takes place May 8 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and focuses on a weight gradient between Cory Sandhagen and TJ Dillashaw.
Ferreira had a winning streak of six games in a defeat by the decision of Beneil Dariush at UFC Fight Night 184 on February 6. The former Legacy Fighting Championship holder is 8-3 in a UFC competition with notable victories for Anthony Pettis, Mairbek Taisumov, Rustam Khabilov and Ramsey Nijem.
Gillespie was scheduled to return against Brad Riddell at the UFC on ESPN 21 on March 20, but the contest was canceled on the day of the event due to COVID-19 protocols. A former national champion wrestler and four-time NCAA All-American wrestler at the University of Edinburgh, Gillespie started the Octagon Series with six consecutive triumphs before suffering a KO defeat by Kevin Lee on his last trip to UFC 244 in November 2019.
