‘Now I Get to Fight in My Own Weight Class’

Vanessa Demopoulos’ Ultimate Fighting Championship debut may not go according to plan, but the former Legacy Fighting Alliance strawweight queen is ready to prove to doubters they’re wrong. Demopoulos (6-4, 0-1 UFC) let a decision fall to JJ Aldrich after she was promoted on short notice and was promoted to flyweight at UFC on ESPN 30. Now that she weighs 115 pounds again, Demopoulos is said to clash with Silvana Gomez Juarez at UFC on ESPN 32.

“I regret that I cannot have my own camp based on this particular fight,” Demopoulos told Sherdog. “I wasn’t able to plan accordingly. I still feel like I was fighting a drug fight. I went up a weight class at short notice against a veteran who was in that cage so many times. We went all three laps. I didn’t hesitate, I never resigned in this fight. I was pushing and busy all the time. I’m really proud of the overall performance. It was disappointing to get the decision and the way I get the decision. Anyway, now I’m fighting in my own weight class that I feel comfortable in. I am strong, I am healthy and I am really looking forward to this next fight. “

At the upcoming “UFC Vegas 46” Demopoulos will also split the bill with a former opponent from her amateur days. In 2013, “Lil Monster” faced Katlyn Chookagian in a three round war that ended with Chookagian slapping her to a stop. Demopoulos detailed this game and also spoke about the adjustments she made after battling Aldrich, revealing her goals for 2022 and beyond.
