The battle between the rising middleweight contenders has been added to the May UFC roster.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans have confirmed to MMA Fighting that the match between Phil Howes and Kyle Daukaus will take place at the UFC event on May 8th. The card takes place at UFC APEX in Las Vegas and is broadcast on ESPN +.
Hawes enters the fight with a winning streak of six fights, including a 2-0 start in the UFC. The 32-year-old made the most of his Octagon debut after earning Dana White’s Contender Series contract and knocking out Jacob Maljoon 18 seconds at UFC 254 in October. Megatron followed this majority win over Nassurdin Imavov at UFC Vegas 19 in February.
Daukaus is aiming for a second victory in the Octagon after beating Dustin Stolzfuss in November at UFC 255 by unanimous decision. The former CFFC champion abandoned his short promotional debut to Brendan Allen in June 2019 by decision, marking the first loss of his professional career.
The May 8 UFC event will feature a bantamweight bout between Corey Sandhagen and former champion T.J. Dillashaw.
