Send Me The Contract, Wants Justin Gaethje Next – MMA Root

It appears that former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos has his eyes on former interim champion Justin Gaethje.

After some comments from Gaethje’s manager Ali Abdelaziz on social media, it was clear that dos Anjos had a bone to pick with him. Essentially, Abdelaziz’s post described the lightweight division as scared to face Gaethje at this point.

After a while, dos Anjos responded to Abdelaziz and said that he is more than ready to take a fight. In fact, the Brazilian went on to say that he is ready to sign the contract.

Rafael dos Anjos ready to go back to the cage

Recently dos Anjos returned to the winning column after an exciting fight with Paul Felder, while it was hotly contested, in the end dos Anjos raised his hand. It seems the Brazilian is eager to get back in the cage, as the former champion understands the value of being active.

“Guess who has the highest ranking available?” dos Anjos posted on Twitter. “I’m working on it. Send me the contract.”

With Gaethje coming off a title loss, and ranked number two, a fight against dos Anjos, ranked number 7, would not be a bad fight to come back to. Prior to the title loss, Gaethje racked up an impressive four-game win streak and his round 5 knockout win over Tony Ferguson was the icing on the cake. However, it goes without saying that Gaethje will have his hands full with the Brazilian because the “RDA” style of pressure tends to cook opponents over time.

Of course, Gaethje is a bit higher in the rankings, the fight is generating a lot of intrigue after the war of words between dos Anjos and Gaethje’s manager Abdelaziz. Overall, the fight would be a fun clash of styles and perhaps give fans a taste of what it’s like to see Gaethje utilize his NCAA Division I All-American skills. Those skills will certainly be put to the test if he ends up fighting dos Anjos, as takedowns are always so frequent but unpredictable when the former champion puts on his gloves.

If this light junk materialized, who would it favor, Justin Gaethje or Rafael dos Anjos? Let us know what you think below!
