Shields Faults “Egos” For Other Boxers’ Lack Of Success In MMA Challenge – MMA Root

Award-winning boxer Clarissa Shields has many accomplishments, including a boxing championship, competitive appearances, and winning an MMA match.

The list of awards continues to grow for T. Rex. By the age of 26, Clarissa Shields had taken home two Olympic gold medals, won numerous boxing championships in various weight divisions, and is now winning the PFL.

Shields won her MMA debut with a TKO win against Britney Elkin, and a few months later she advanced to her next fight.

Although the undefeated boxer fought hard, she suffered the first loss of her professional fighting career by a split decision against Abigail Montez.

She still considers herself “the greatest woman of all time” and is proud to have risen to the challenge of MMA. Currently a lone wolf in her actions, Shields blames “ego” for other boxers not following suit.

“Ego, men have a lot of egos, a lot of boxers have egos. They want to be the best at what they’re good at, and the minute they encounter something uncomfortable or abnormal, they don’t want to do it,” Shields explains to SunSport.

Many boxers have tried their hand at mixed martial arts. Famous names in the field of boxing such as James Toney and Ricardo Mayorga have made efforts in this sport. As revered boxing champions, they both failed in their MMA debuts and retired from the sport.

It is notable that former boxer and UFC veteran Laverne Clark has achieved success in MMA. He won his UFC debut and won 9 fights in a row from 1998 to 1999, mostly by TKO.

In recent years, none of the other boxing champions other than Shields has attempted mixed martial arts. It’s been over 10 years since boxing legend Holly Holm embarked on her MMA journey as she became the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.

Undoubtedly, some fighters fear that their perfect records will be overshadowed by defeat. However, Shields plans to take his MMA career to the top.

The MMA championship belt may be the toughest challenge of her fighting career, but she’s not going to give up.

“This is unprecedented, this has never happened before, and this is what people want to see, extraordinary things. And the fact that I am willing to risk my reputation, my record, put everything on the line to win the PFL world title, shows my character, ”continues Calarressa.

From the Olympics to boxing to MMA, Shields proves her tenacity is unmatched.

She currently dominates women’s lightweight boxing; undefeated 12-0. And on February 5, she recovered from her MMA defeat with a unanimous decision win over Ema Kozin.

Shields plans to reappear in the PFL in 2023 to continue his legacy. Perhaps Shields will start the trend of turning professional boxers into successful MMA fighters.
