Slippery Canvas a Problem for Fighters at UFC on ABC 2

“Almighty” slipped just before that eye-catching headbutt landed.

Arnold Allen (17-1, 8-0 UFC) shone in his final Octagon appearance when he defeated Sodiq Yusuff (11-2, 4-1 UFC) in the UFC co-main event on ABC 2 in the first and second frames striking at work and not stopping his opponent in the distance after impressing “Super” with a clean headbutt in the middle of the second verse. Unfortunately, “Almighty” couldn’t capitalize when he lost his balance and immediately fell on the canvas.

“I think if I hadn’t fallen I might have finished him off,” he said while talking to Sherdog. “All the power went out because I fell over him. I slipped a couple of times because the canvas was pretty slippery. I’ve talked to some people who fought on the map before and they said the same thing, it was very slippery. They slipped while trying to wrestle or kick the fence, they slipped. ”

Ultimately, the £ 145 contender got a unanimous decision from Yusuff as he swept 29-28, 29-28 and 29-28 scorecards from the judges. He then confessed that he would be closely monitoring the fight of Chan Sung Jung-Dan Ige, which will take place at UFC Fight Night 190, as he wants to declare the winner of the clash.

“Before the fight was announced, I thought, ‘I’d like to call the Korean zombie,'” he added. “He’s in 5th or 6th place, I think. I thought this was an ideal matchup to push myself forward after this fight. Then he was booked with Dan Ige. But yes, that would be a cool matchup for sure. ”

When asked, “Almighty” said that Ige would oust his opponent. He also talked about his “pretty rough” camp in preparation for the bout, his current 8-fight winning streak, his plans now that he is back in the UK and much more.
