The UFC has had a great 2021 so far. In their first week of January, they fought Max Holloway and Conor McGregor, two of the sport’s most popular characters. With Dustin victorious over Conor, he also took his star to a new level. Amanda Nunes, Petr Yan, Kamaru Usman, Jan Blachowicz and Stipe Miocic all put their belts on the line, with Yan and Stipe losing their belts to new champions Aljamain Sterling (controversial) and Francis N’Gannou. FW champion Alexander Volkanovski also had to defend his belt but contracted COVID. MW champion Israel Adesanya also struggled, losing in an effort to become champion to LHW champion Blachowicz.
